COVID Positive Teenage Girl Raped By Ambulance Driver

In a very depressing news, a teenage girl, who tested positive for COVID-19, was raped by the ambulance driver while she was being shifted to the hospital. This incident happened at Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala late on Saturday night.

Pandalam police have reported that the incident took place sometime after 10 pm. The driver is identified as V Noufal (29), apparently a habitual offender who has a bunch of cases against him, has violated the girl when was taken to the Pandalam COVID First Line Treatment Centre from the Kozhencherry district hospital. The 19-year old girl had gone to Adoor government general hospital after testing COVID positive.

But since there were no beds vacant in this hospital, the authorities of the hospital had asked the ambulance driver to take the girl to Pandalam COVID First Line Treatment Centre. With this girl, there was a 42-year-old woman also who was COVID positive and was being transferred to the same centre.

The ambulance driver had dropped the woman at the Kozhencherry centre and took the girl towards the airport project in Aranmula. The driver parked the ambulance at an isolated spot, removed the PPE kit, opened the back door, and raped the girl. He threatened her to not reveal the incident to any and dropped her at the hospital. The girl informed the hospital authority who informed the same to the police. The accused was arrested on Sunday morning.
