Former Union minister and BJP MP Sujana Chowdary faced insult at the New Delhi airport. He was about to board a flight to America when the immigration officials obstructed him following a look-out notice in connection with bank fraud cases. The look-out notices were issued to prevent him from leaving the country.
Soon as he was obstructed, his lawyers filed a petition in the court, like in a lunch motion, and got permission to leave the country for two weeks.
Sujana is facing charges of default of Rs 8,000 crore he had taken from various banks. The bankers filed cases that the MP has defaulted on the loans taken from them. The Nampally court issued arrest warrant even when he was a Union minister in connection with non-repayment of Rs 100 crore loan taken from Mauritius Bank. In 2018, the CBI filed three FIRs against Sujana on bank frauds.
The Enforcement Directorate and income tax officials had already filed cases against Sujana for cheating banks by setting up shell companies and resorting to money laundering. All the cases are under investigation. Banks also issued public notices that Sujana’s property was attached and his assets were also put up for auction. The CBI issued look-out notices on Sujana who is facing several cases in 2018 itself, which means he cannot leave India.
In such circumstances, the issue is why did Sujana venture to travel to America even without taking the required permissions, despite knowing pretty well that look-out notices were issued against him.
When the immigration officials obstructed, he immediately moved the court and got the permission from the court. The court also ordered that Sujana should inform the immigration officials about his return soon after returning from the foreign country.
At the same time, the court also set aside Sujana’s plea that the look-out notices against him should be cancelled.
