Popular Telugu Poet Dies of Illness

Telugu literature received another set back as noted literary figure and poet Dr Rallabandi Kavita Prasad passed away. Kavita Prasad breathed his last on Sunday evening after prolonged illness. He was one of the most popular Telugu poets of modern times. He shot to fame with his Avadhanam prowess. He served as director, Dept of Culture, Govt of Andhra Pradesh and recently posted as secretary, Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP), in TTD, Tirupati.

Kavita Prasad performed over 500 avadhanams, including satavadhanam and dvisatavadhanam. He had also performed various avadhanas such as navarasavadhanam, and astadasavadhanam, etc. and introduced various new trends in avadhana vidya. Osmania University awarded him a Doctrate degree for his thesis on avadhanam vidya. Kavita Prasad is native of Nemali Village, Gampalagudem Mandalam in Krishna District of Andhrapradesh.

Kavita Prasad was the author of several books. He penned the books  'Avadhana Vidya - Arambha Vikasalu', 'Padyamandapam', 'Agnihimsa', 'Idi Kavisamayam', 'Saptagiridhama Kaliyuga Sarvabhouma'. Rallabandi's 'Ontari Poola Butta' an anthology of modern poetry received well among literary icons. He is the author of several books such as Kadambini.
