Trump Extends Ban On H-1B, Green Cards & Other Work Visas

In a major blow to immigrants coming to the US on work visas and green cards, the Trump administration extended a ban on them through the end of March this year.

Donald Trump issued a ban on many foreigners’ work visas last April and in June naming it the move to protect Americans from losing jobs in the country due to the shutdowns forced by a coronavirus. The bans he issued then were to expire on the last day of 2020, but the Trump administration extended it for three more months.

This ban applies to immigrants who wanted to come to the US on H-1B visas, other work visas, and even green cards. While Biden promised to revoke many of Trump’s rules, but it is not known at this moment how quickly he will do that after taking the office on January 20.

Earlier, Federal judges have limited the impact of Trump-imposed visa bans. The visas that are included in the bad are H-2B visas for non-agricultural seasonal workers, J-1 visas for cultural exchanges, and also L-1 visas for managers and other key employees of multinational corporations.
