US: Indian-Origin Doctor Shoots A Pediatrician And Kills Himself

An Indian origin doctor Dr. Bharat Narumanchi shot a female pediatrician and took his own life at a Texas medical office, Children’s Medical Group in Austin. Dr. Bharat had terminal cancer and was 43, who had a practice in California.

The pediatrician who was killed by Dr. Bharat is identified as Dr. Katherine Lindley Dodson. The suspect when arrived, displayed a gun and told hostages to tie themselves up and some of them were able to escape and the others were released after the police arrived, except for Dr. Katherine Dodson.

The reason for Dr. Bharat attacking the hospital is not known but he applied for a volunteer position there within the past two weeks and was turned down. Dr. Bharat Narumanchi reportedly had only weeks to live, due to cancer. During the attack, Dr. Bharat had several guns on him.

The parents of Dr. Bharat Narumanchi spoke out on the incident and said they do not understand their son’s motive but instead feel this time is best spent remembering Dr. Dodson’s contributions to this world.

Dr. Narumanchi was charged with domestic abuse in Hawaii in 2012. The case was later dismissed. He was accused of abusing his ex-wife. He termed his ex-wife as a ‘hapless person from childhood’ and claiming she only married him to gain US citizenship.
