Telangana records zero covid deaths

Telangana witnessed a huge relief as the state reported zero Covid19 deaths for the first time after nine months on Thursday. To be precise, it was on May 8, 2020, when Telangana registered zero Covid-related deaths and the total death toll was only 30 then.

Currently, the cumulative death toll into the pandemic stands at 1,613 in the state. Yesterday, 146 cases have been reported in the state, rising the whole number to 2,96,134 in Telangana alone. State authorities claimed that the cases in Telangana have declined to a great extent and the government is moving ahead very strategically with increased testing and proper surveillance. Moreover, the idea of contaminated zones has been lucrative.

Dr Srinivas Rao, director of public health, TG, said that the virus has not disappeared entirely and people should be cautious like before. He said that though the state has surpassed the peak stage of the pandemic, it is still not predictable about the spread of the virus in the future. 

While the state has a positivity rate of 0.7%, the case fatality rate (CFR) is currently, 0.54%, which falls into one of the lowest in India. Exactly 29,755 tests were conducted in the state on Thursday and with this, Telangana has now completed 82.1 lakh Covid-19 tests.
