Sasikala’s Masterplan Behind Her Political Exit

Leaving her supporters and Tamil Nadu political circles shocked, former AIADMK Chief VK Sasikala announced her retirement from active politics last night. Announcing her decision just a month before the state goes to polls, Sasikala issued a press note wherein she urged her supporters and AIADMK cadre to defeat the DMK in the ensuing general elections.

Many say that Sasikala was deeply upset when no top-level AIADMK leaders visited her after she returned to Chennai from Bangalore jail after a 4 year jail term on corruption charges. Apparently, the AIADMK leaders didn’t even oblige BJP’s New Delhi high command’s diktat to induct Sasikala into the party. Even Sasikala had a telephonic conversation with BJP’s Amit Shah.

However, there’s another side to the story. TN political analysts are of the opinion that Sasikala has scripted a masterplan behind her retirement. The buzz has it that Sasikala is well aware of AIADMK’s dismal fate in the upcoming elections. She wants to create an opinion that AIADMK lost because she wasn’t respected in the party, thereby clearing the path for her royal comeback in AIADMK.

Once AIADMK suffers defeat in the polls, Sasikala plans to pacify the party’s strong leaders and bring them under her clout. On the other hand, her nephew TTV Dhinakaran’s Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) party, for which Sasikala is the founder member, will gain strength due to AIADMK’s election drubbing
