Director pledges not to trouble his Guru
Mani Ratnam's latest outing 'Kadal' has left many distributors in doldrums. The Gautham and Thulasi starrer recorded poorest openings in the career of this genius director and it even hasn't showed any signs of picking up later. Almost all the distributors have demanded compensation from Mani for the huge losses incurred to them for trusting his vision.
However, director Lingusamy (Run, Pandem Kodi, Awara fame) who acquired the distribution of Kadal for Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore declares he would never demand for compensation of Kadal's losses as the film business itself is like that - hits & flops are in no ones hands and everything is just part of the game.
Having high regard for Mani, the director treats him as his guru and claims it was this genius filmmaker who inspired him to choose the Film Industry. "I will never trouble Mani sir despite my losses," asserts Lingusamy, in a press release issued by him.
This is really a good gesture from Lingusamy's side and Mani would be a relieved man now. Hope all the remaining distributors too realize the stark reality that film business willn't be anyone's control!
