Don't Sell Vote For 2000, Take 20,000!!
Taking money for voting in elections is not a crime, but distributing money to buy votes is a crime. One accepts or not, India is running its elections system by buying votes through various means. Here is a quick satire by political analysts about the whole drama.
Many a times we hear that political parties are buying each voter at a maximum price of Rupees Two Thousands. That means to vote someone to power for five years, people are charging just a Rupee a day. On an average aspiring MLAs and MPs would be buying more than 1 lakh voters such that at least 30% will vote them in their favour. Political observers say that if people really want some educated and middle-class leaders to rule them, then they should eliminate these cash-rich politicians. There is one way to do that.
If voters collect more than 20,000 for their vote from each party's candidate, then the losing candidate will go bankrupt and will not contest in next elections. The other rich-politician who wins the election will not be able to recover all of his investment as it is not possible for all to amass wealth by illegal means, and eventually he too will quit politics. Then, educated and real leaders may get chance to contest, win and rule this country.
