Police have detained the alleged boyfriend of the 17-year-old girl, Chandini Jain, whose decomposed body was found on Tuesday morning on the outskirts of Hyderabad, in connection with her murder.
The boy named Sai Kiran, is a resident of Madinaguda, where Chandini also lived. He is reportedly her senior in college. Police have detained him based on CCTV footage which showed him and Chandini getting into an autorckshaw near her home on Saturday evening, from when she went missing.
When the girl didn't return home that night, her parents tried to call her at around 9 pm, but her mobile phone was switched off. This panicked them, and they approached police. A kidnap case was booked on Saturday night, and an inquiry was launched. As the search operation was in progress, police received information about a girl's dead body lying at the desolated Ameenpur Hills on the outskirts of the city.
The police recovered the girl's body, which was in a decomposed condition on Tuesday morning. No injuries were found on the victim's body. The place where the girl's body was found is isolated, on the city outskirts. The police suspect that the girl could not have gone there all by herself and that she could have been killed by whoever took her there, either with her consent or by force.
After initial reports of the post-mortem, the suspicious death was confirmed as murder. During the investigation, police found the CCTV footage which showed Chandini and Sai Kiran getting into an autorickshaw near her home, getting down at Ameenpur and walking towards the hills. It is said to be a pre-planned murder committed by Kiran as Chandini was allegedly forcing him to marry her.
The alleged culprit will be presented before media this afternoon.
