Looks like Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is waging a war against the Union Government-led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the turf for this war happens to be the prestigious 'Polavaram' project.
After differences erupted between Naidu and Modi over issues of Governance and unfulfilled promises by the BJP-led Government, the Chief Minister of AP is working overtime to meet the huge expectations people of the State have reposed on him. And in the process, Naidu is putting great emphasis on completing the Polavaram project before the scheduled time of completion.
Recently, when heavy rains in State created a problem in the construction works, Naidu was seen and heard motivating his Team to not get bogged down. Speaking to media representatives on the issue, Naidu expressed satisfaction over the progress of various irrigation projects in Andhra Pradesh.
He told the journalists that his Government's endeavor is to complete the Polavaram project works as early as possible, maybe before May 2019. He even added that the Union Government has to release Rs 2,600 crore for the works already completed and, if the BJP Government co-operates then the project works could be expedited.
With Chandrababu Naidu working overtime to ensure water from Polavaram project are distributed to farmers in Andhra Pradesh before the next Elections, it would be interesting to see the reaction of the Bharatiya Janata Party's AP unit leaders.
