Avoid Media: High Court to CBI JD

The public interest litigation (PIL) seeking action against the CBI JD Lakshminarayana for leaking the information to some media houses came up for hearing before the High Court chief justice PC Ghose.

Surprised by the hundreds of calls made by the CBI to media, the Judge questioned what's the need for the investigation sleuths to interact with media when a case was still under investigation. Pointing out that the CBI manual hadn't permitted its officers to interact with media during the course of interrogation, Judge directed the CBI JD Lakshminarayana not to divulge the investigation reports to the press.

A businessman from Guntur, Bhushan, had filed this petition after the call list data of CBI JD Lakshminarayana and Lead India organizer Chandrabala was leaked to the media. In his petition, Mr Bhushan accused CBI JD of misleading the court by saying that he had not been in touch with media.
