MLAs fearing to face By-Poll
The legislators who were suspended for violating party discipline and the ones who voluntarily resigned from their party membership aren't ready to face the by-poll due to the volatile political situation in the state.
All the five suspended TDP MLAs including Kodali Nani have decided not to approach the Speaker to make him accept their resignations, as it may lead to a fresh by-poll. Nani had declared on Sunday that he would contest on YSR Congress ticket only in the 2014 polls, which is an indication of his dislike to face by-poll. MLAs Chinnam Ramakotaiah, Bala Nagireddy, Venugopala Chary and Harishwar Reddy were suspended recently for violating party's dictate by participating in the Presidential poll voting. Even TDP leadership is not interested to move a petition with Speaker seeking disqualification of the five legislators, as it end up increasing the MLAs count of YSR Congress.
The two Congress MLAs Alla Nani and SK Ranga Rao who submitted their resignation to Speaker after openly expressed their support to YS Jagan wants to continue as fence-sitting MLAs till 2014 polls.
As per the EC rules, a by-poll can't be conducted if the General Elections or End Of Present Term is less than a year. So, the deadline might be May 2013 as most probably the General Elections will happen in May 2014. Will the people of AP witness another by-poll soon?
