E-Petition trouble for AP MLAs

July 29th, 2012, 12:33 PM IST

With the recent launch of Legislature's website (www.aplegislature.org), people from all over the state has got an opportunity to directly bring their grievances to the notice of their MLAs.

Using e-petitions, a direct link is established between the people and the legislators. This e-petition is intended to provide citizens an electronic access to the MLAs throughout the year to find a quick solution to the public grievance.  All these petitions submitted by people are acknowledged immediately, processed and forwarded to the concerned members to ensure a prompt reply through mail. This will ensure greater accountability of the Executive to the people through the institution of Legislature.

Of course, this move is a great opportunity for the MLAs who are with service motive and for those who are into politics for personal gains it's a nightmare. Apart from e-petitions, this website also has all the information regarding debates in Assembly since 1952, assets and liabilities of MLAs, constituency-wise information and welfare and development programs in the constituencies. Will this new move reduce the gap between the people and the legislators is to be seen!
