Eight people were killed and a dozen suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in a 'terror attack' on Tuesday in Manhattan, New York City.
As per police reports, a 29-year-old man in a pickup truck drove down a busy bicycle path near the World Trade Center in Manhattan, causing bloody mayhem. Six people were declared dead at the scene and two others were pronounced dead at the hospital. A dozen were transported to the hospital with injuries.
A note, written in English, was found in the truck that said the attack was done in the name of ISIS. Witnesses reported the suspect was yelling "Allahu Akbar" while crashing the truck into a school bus. Soon after the crash, he reportedly exited the vehicle carrying imitation firearms, and was shot in the abdomen by a police officer. He is in police custody, and the incident is being investigated as terrorism.
The suspect was identified as a Uzbekistan national. He has been living in the US since 2010, reports said.
