US: Apex In Two Weeks, Social Distancing Up To April 30

The social distancing urged by the federal government for the 15 day period initially, is now extended for a month, up to April 30, nationwide in the US.

Donald Trump earlier expressed his confidence in lifting the social distancing and lockdown guidances as early as by the easter time, but the latest comments of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert that there could be 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in the US and millions of infected people, contradicts with Trump’s confidence.

Trump had to make a decision on extending the guidelines as the health experts predict that the US is going to see the apex in virus contamination and spread by the end of two weeks from now.

The US had more than 145,000 COVID-19 infected people and more than 2500 deaths so far due to it. The spread slowed down a bit due to lockdown and social distancing, as the doubling time of infected people number and deaths has been observed to have slowed down in the last ten days.

On the other side, the CDC issued a travel advisory to New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut urging the residents to stay where they are and avoid non-essential domestic travel for the next 14 days effective immediately.
