What is threatening Indian IT Industry?

While the opposition in India is alleging government over raising unemployment in the nation, we are most likely to see the situation getting worse in the days to come. As per the official figures, the rate of unemployment is at 5.2% now while it was 3.8, 4.7 and 4.9 in 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively. So, what triggered this and what are other factors which could impact employment, particularly IT Industry.

While the victory of Donald Trump as United States' President came down as a crushing blow to Indian students who were planning MS in US, his game plan to boost 'Buy American-Hire American' campaign is worrying Indian companies and people working on H1-B visa. Besides Trump factor, what is threatening the IT in India? - it's Automation. Yes, according to a survey, it is going to impact every 7 out of 10 IT jobs in very less time.

Employees working on Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) are more likely to face the heat, because of IT industries' growing inclination towards 'Automation'. As it threatens to disrupt the job security of lower level employees, companies like Wipro, TCS, Infosys and others are making plans to enhance technical skills of senior lot by offering additional pay scale.

The Artificial Intelligence system 'Mana', launched by Infosys last year, is one best example of company's push towards automating repetitive tasks and software maintenance. The move is intended to free up several engineers from ongoing projects.

Adding to the uncertainty among working employees, fresh graduates coming out of engineering colleges will apparently be effected by Automation and push them either to work on a low-scale jobs or go for high academics.
