Beat the Zoom App, Take 1 crore Prize

With the physical distancing and lockdown imposed everywhere, the application that is used on par or more with digital streaming applications is undoubtedly Zoom.

The video conferencing app that accommodates 100 participants was extensively used in the earlier days of lockdown, but later all the government asked the users to discontinue using it due to security issues from that China developed app. Zoom was used for online teaching, work from home video conferences and family meetings in quarantine time.

Now, our Indian government is offering Rs 1 crore prize money for anyone who develops an alternative for Zoom and of course with end-to-end encryption and that consumes low data and power.

The winner also will receive a certificate from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The registration for the App development challenge already began on the 13th of April and will be closed on April 30. The winner will be announced on July 29.

Amid the security issues on the usage of the Zoom app, the messaging application WhatsApp took a big leap with its new features. The WhatsApp now allows up to 8 users in a video call, but it is way behind the Zoom capability of bringing 100 users at a time.
