Vijaya Sai Reddy Plays A Mind Game!

The contradictory statements by YCP MP V. Vijayasai Reddy on TDP MLA and former minister Ganta Srinivas Rao that he is likely to switch sides to their party quitting the TDP is creating confusion among the voters in Vizag, ahead of the municipal elections.

A week ago, Vijayasai Reddy, during his campaign in Vizag North constituency, said that Ganta is an unreliable man and that he would do no good to the people. He also said that once Ganta wins the elections, he would not care for the public and their grievances. Instead, he would go to some constituency other than from where he was elected. He even suggested that it will be good if people believed in YCP in-charge K.K. Raju.

Ganta condemns Reddy’s remarks

Meanwhile, Ganta Srinivasa Rao condemned Vijayasai’s remarks. He said that there had been talk that he would switch over to the YCP and wondered what were the proposals he had sent to Jagan. He demanded that Vijayasai should reveal them.

Ganta said that during the last 20 months, rumours were rife about his joining the YCP and in a few instances, the dates were also fixed. He said that he would switch loyalty to the YCP, if need be, in a very dignified manner but not in a secret manner.

At the same time, it is worth noting that Ganta did not take part in the TDP activities for some time when the rumours were spreading fast. However, he became active soon after the Centre announced disinvestment of Vizag Steel Plant by tendering his resignation.

Disgruntled Avanti

In view of the municipal elections, political observers say that the YCP could be playing a mind game by making such controversial statements and at the same time, the party bigwigs might also be trying to weaken the morale of the TDP functionaries.

Responding to this, Vijayasai Reddy said that there was no need for their party to play a mind game. He said that Ganta’s entry into the YCP would have no impact on their party. The government will not be affected in any way, he said.

At one time, there was talk that minister Avanti Srinivas Rao was against Ganta’s switching over to the YCP and that his entry was getting delayed because the party seniors were trying to appease him. Then for some time, there was no talk about Ganta.

However, Vijayasai’s remarks over Ganta’s plans to change allegiance ahead of the municipal elections are being viewed critically both by the TDP and political analysts.
