TDP Pockets Tadipatri Municipality, JC Elected As Municipal Chairman

In a set back to ruling YSRCP, Opposition TDP has bagged Tadipatri municipality. The tension in Tadipatri came to a logical ending with TDP leader and former MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy being elected as the chairman of the municipality. Saraswathi has been elected as the vice-chairperson.

Prabhakar Reddy was voted to power with both the CPI and independent candidates giving support to the TDP. Tension prevailed in Tadipathri for the last three days after the municipal commissioner rejected the ex-officio votes of the MLCs and with the ruling YCP, opposition TDP  leaving no stone unturned to emerge victorious.

While the TDP won in 18 wards, the YCP won in 14 and ensured unanimous election in two wards taking the total to 16. This apart, two ex-officio votes of the MLA Pedda Reddy and MP Talari Rangaiah also went into the YCP kitty.

In such a situation, the votes of both the CPI candidate and independent candidate played a major role but with both of them tilting towards the TDP, the yellow party could pitch its flag in the municipality.

Meanwhile, Prabhakar Reddy’s son Asmith Reddy alleged that the YCP resorted to blackmail politics in the last three days to win the municipal chairman post.
