Tamil hero Vijay's latest film 'Sarkar' has emerged as the biggest hit of South India by earning over Rs 220 crore. This feat has made the film to surpass Megapowerstar Ram Charan's last outing 'Rangasthalam' which had collected Rs 218 crore.
'Sarkar' is a political drama and it received mixed reviews, but the film managed to be a money-spinner. All thanks to the controversy surrounding the film and at the same it garnered support from the Tamil cinema legends.
In Tamil Nadu, 'Sarkar' has grossed Rs 30.5 crore on the first day while it collected Rs 100 crore so far and is expected to make Rs 140 crore in its full run. The film was dubbed in Telugu with the same title and the Telugu version made a share of Rs 6 crore and reckoned as a hit.
This is Vijay's sixth Rs 100 crore film overall and it's a hat-trick hit for the combination of Vijay and AR Murugadoss.
