When Mahesh Babu stated that no director would wait for a hero these days and thanked Vamshi Paidipally for waiting for him for Maharsi, media had speculated that Mahesh took a jibe on Sukumar. It was rumoured that Mahesh had cracked satire on Sukumar. Responding to them, Mahesh clarified that he didn't refer to Sukumar at all. He clarified that he was only praising Vamshi. He asked media to not read between the lines.
Talking about Sukumar and the shelving of a film with him which he was supposed to do, Mahesh said the film with Sukumar is still on and said he is good friends with Rangasthalam director. Mahesh said he has been doing serious subjects in a row and that's when he has decided to do a different and entertaining film. He said that's why he wants to team up with Anil Ravipudi which is going to be an out and out entertainer. He said he conveyed the same to Sukumar and both have gently decided to take some gap. "I want to work for an out-and-out entertainer with Anil Ravipudi and meantime, Sukumar garu wanted to finish a film. Hence we both decided to do a film before teaming up. It's a mutual decision," said Mahesh.
Mahesh said his film with Sukumar will happen soon indicating that it will be after his film with Anil Ravipudi. Ask him whether he only recalled hit films at the pre-release event, he clarified that he had recalled the special films in his filmy career spanning over 25 years.
Mahesh said, "People recognized that I can act with Murari. Okkadu had made me a star. Athadu had opened my US market. Pokiri made me close to masses. Srimanthudu and Bharat Ane Nenu were landmarks. Of course, One Nenokkadine was cult. I respect Sukumar garu. But I was recollecting very special films in my career." Mahesh said he likes all the directors he has worked with so far in his 25-year-long career.
Mahesh is confident that Maharshi will join the list of his special films.
