Remaking other language films is not a rare thing in Tollywood, but if one remade film does well then our makers mushroom the box office with lots of such. When Chiranjeevi's Hitler did well, many filmmakers and big heroes opted for Malayalam film remakes but most of them ended up as duds.
And now, with the success of Malayalam movie Premam's Telugu remake, a lot of Mallu films got remade here. In the recent Summer, we have seen Malayalam film ABCD remake coming up first. The film didn't meet expectations like the original and ended up as a dud. Then we have Angamaly Diaries remake Falaknuma Das coming up, and it also met a similar fate, thus becoming the latest Malayalam movie remake to fail.
Most of the times, the directors of these films are unable to retain the soul of the original films in the name of creating a Telugu nativity for the movie. That is leading to these disastrous results. And when they fail capture the soul of the movie, one wonders what is the pointing in opting for remakes.
