#BoycottKBC is trending and Sony TV apologizes

The popular quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, with host legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, is running its season 11 successfully.  But, after so many years of its triumph and trust, the show had to face trolls and outrage over a written mistake in a particular question. The Sony channel, which airs this quiz show has now apologized publicly to the viewers and the reason is...

One of the recent episode had a question to a contestant asking about Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The question was asked to a contestant from Gujarat, Shaheda Chandran and it was - 'Which of these rulers was the contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb?' and the options were - A) Maharana Pratap B) Rana Sanga C) Maharaja Ranjit Singh D) Shivaji. Also, Big B is heard mentioning Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as only Shivaji.

The matter was intolerable to netizens and started trending #BoycottKBC on social media. The outrage was shown as the channel, host and the team disrespected the great Maratha warrior by just calling him Shivaji. Social media users also asked Amitabh to apologize for the same. The viewers also demanded ShivSena and Maharastra BJP unit to send legal notice to the Sony channel.

Now, talking about the apology, Sony TV has apologised by taking it to social media - "There was an inaccurate reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during Wednesday's KBC episode, due to inadvertence. We deeply regret the same and being mindful of the sentiments of our viewers have carried a scroll expressing regret during our episode yesterday. #KBC11"
This is not the first time as Big B was earlier fell victim for trolls when netizens called him sexist over his comment on KBC.  Apparently, in September Mr. Bachchan cracked a joke implying that women are gold-diggers. People labelled him  "sexist and misogynistic."
