Darbar distributors go on hunger strike

AR Murugadoss' Darbar, starring Superstar Rajinikanth was released on 9th Jan 2020. However, the long-awaited flick has incurred huge losses of nearly Rs 70 crore, said the trade sources. On the same, Darbar's distributors requested to meet Rajinikanth, but since their request was turned down, they have decided to go on hunger strike.

A distributor, Pandi Kannan said "Last week, we decided to meet Rajinikanth sir and explain the situation. We have suffered heavy losses. We were stopped by the cops when we approached the actor at his residence. It's disappointing that he didn't even wish to meet us. Therefore, we've decided to go on hunger strike".

This is not the first time as Thalaiva's 2014 film Lingaa also faced a similar fate when it incurred heavy losses for distributors. Now, Darbar was made of huge budget which includes record paycheck of Rajinikanth.

Currently, Rajinikanth is busy shooting for his next film with director Siva. The title has not been unveiled and this action drama will feature Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu and Meena in prominent roles.
