Oscars 2021: Anthony Hopkins and Frances McDormand Win Best Actor & Best Actress

The event of the 93rd Academy Awards has been just concluded in Los Angeles. Nomadland was honored by the Best Picture Award. Meanwhile, veteran actor Anthony Hopkins won the Best Actor award and veteran actress Frances McDormand won the Best Actress Award.

Anthony Hopkins won the award for his performance in the film The Father. As he was not present at the event, Academy accepted the award on his behalf. This is the second Oscar won by the 83-year-old actor. He won the Best Actor award in the past for the 1992 film The Silence of the Lambs. He was also nominated for the films The Remains of the Day, Nixon, Amistad (Best Supporting Actor), and The Two Popes (Best Supporting Actor).

Meanwhile, the 63-year-old Frances McDormand won her third Academy Award as the Best Actress for her performance in the film Nomadland. She had earlier won the award for the films Fargo and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. She was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award in the past for her performances in the films Mississippi Burning, Almost Famous, and North Country. She won all the Best Actress awards she was nominated in the history of Oscars.
