Nagarjuna's Soggade Chinni Nayana that has caught the attention of film lovers is out in theaters now. Directed by debutant Kalyan Krishna, this Romantic fantasy is a perfect treat for the festive audience. Soggade Chinni Nayana lives up to the expectations of not just Nagarjuna fans but also the commercial cinema lovers.

What is it about?

Ramu (Nagarjuna) and Seetha (Lavanya) decide to get divorced. They come to Ramu's village to convey this to his mother Satyabhama (Ramya Krishna). She is shocked at their decision and seeks the help of her dead husband Bangarraju (Nagarjuna). His soul comes back on to earth to solve the issues of his son. While Bangarraju is busy in getting his son on track, he comes to know there is a much bigger danger that is soon going to strike his family. Bangarraju has to save his family before going back to Yama lokam.

Nagarjuna: Nagarjuna has owned this film from the start to finish. He is good as an innocent Ramu. But the show stealer is Bangarraju, a big flirt and evergreen romantic. Nagarjuna is superb in this role where he seen in typical village zamindar avatar. At 55, he looks as handsome as ever.

Heroines and Others:
Lavanya is very good as a wife that is looking for some attention from her husband. Ramya Krishna is superb. Nasser did well. Sampath Raj is okay. Brahmanandam's comedy isn't effective. Anushka is seen in a cameo. Anasuya and Hamsa Nandini too appeared in a couple of scenes and a song.

Debutant director Kalyan Krishna handled the film well. SCN has a simple story with a dash of fantasy element. Director did well in making it a commercial entertainer by adding some action and masala elements. There is nothing exceptional about the debutante's work but he proved his abilities to deal with a typical subject.

Dialogues are alright. Cinematography is neat. Editing is average. Music by Anup Rubens is very good. All the songs are in sync with the theme of the film. Background score is decent too.

Thumbs Up:

Thumbs Down:

Second half drags

Soggade Chinni Nayana is a neat family entertainer that is packaged and delivered in good shape. It is a simple commercial film that offers some variety kind of entertainment to the festival audience. This is a no nonsense film that sticks to the theme. Rural backdrop will appeal to the B and C centers audience rather than the urban crowds.

Director keeps it entertaining without digging too much into the emotional part. It could have been better had the director concentrated more upon the emotional quotient in the movie. Nagarjuna is an asset to this film and holds it well with a commanding performance. Second half is not as entertaining as the first half. It drags too.

There is a conscious effort of playing it safe towards the climax. Some routine things take the front seat as the movie enters into the third act. Despite the shortcomings and visible flaws, SCN has enough to entertain the festival audience. Made on a reasonable budget the movie could be a successful film at the box office.

Verdict: Sweet and Simple Family Entertainer.
