Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada lives up to the promise it has shown from its trailer. This supernatural thriller is a thoroughly entertaining film many twists and turns. Nikhil has yet another winner on hands. VI Anand proves his mettle and announces his arrival into Tollywood with a bang.

What is it about?

Arjun (Nikhil) meets a girl named Amala (Hebah Patel) in Kerala who gets very close to him within no time. But she goes away without leaving any note or a message. Arjun goes in search of her and finds that Amala is dead and the girl that he met is not Amala. He comes to know that the girl she met in Kerala is Nithya. Meanwhile another girl comes into his life claiming that she is Amala (Nandita Swetha).

Nikhil is good as the innocent guy who is caught between two girls. Hebah Patel is a fine actress and she does a neat job as Nithya/Amala. Nandita Swetha is the one who steals the show. Her antics and expressions elevate the character and make a strong impact. Avika Gor impresses in a brief but an important role. Vennela Kishore and Satya's comedy brings the house down.

Director VI Anand has excelled as a writer and director. His concept, visualization and the execution are bang on the target. It is not an easy concept to execute, but Anand did a commendable job in holding it throughout. He has shown glimpses of his brilliance in Tiger and here he proves that he is a talent to watch out for.

Sekhar Chandra's music is in tune with the film. Background score is effective. Cinematography is pretty good. Editor should have taken care of the starting and ending that drags a bit. Production values are neat.

Dragging Climax

Tacky beginning

You cannot miss this one if you are a sucker for horror comedies. You cannot miss this one if you are looking for novel entertainment amid the routine masala that we are served at a regular basis. You cannot miss it if you are looking for good, clean, fun movie. Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada is a supreme entertainer with its heart and 'soul' at the right place.

Horror comedies have become a norm these days, but EPC is different from the usual. It has unforeseen twists and turns that will keep you glued to the screens. There is not much horror in the film, but the supernatural element is what drives it. Nikhil has picked up another promising story and director VI Anand lives up to the actor's expectations.

Comedy in the film works big time as every comedian is in fine form. Story unfolds at a leisure pace but engages the viewers with a well written screenplay. It suffered few teething problems but gets interesting once Hebah goes missing from Kerala. Interval scene is the high point and the film is a fun ride from then on.

It slows down towards the climax as the director makes sure to connect all the dots. Despite a few blemishes, EPC is a fun film that is worth your ticket's money. It is released during the crunch situation, but should do well as the word of mouth will be on the positive side. Go watch it.

Verdict: Super Chinnoda.
