‘Kamma’ support to Nimmagadda?

Before Andhra Pradesh government sacked State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar by cutting down his tenure with an ordinance, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and his cabinet ministers attacked him and alleged that he’s biased towards Telugu Desham Party and Kamma community. Also, the government invited huge amount of criticism after SEC was ousted while the state is fighting the deadly COVID-19.

Challenging Jagan Mohan Reddy government’s decision, 4 people have moved to state High Court and filed a petition. Besides Ramesh who filed a PIL claiming that the GO issued by govt will come into effect after his complete tenure, others who filed writ petition include BJP leader and former AP Minister Kamineni Srinivas, former Vijayawada MP Vadde Shobanadreeswara Rao and TDP leader Varla Ramaiah.

An advocate Jandyala Ravishankar has filed PIL on behalf of Former Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, who said that he has the approval from BJP’s high command to proceed with the petition. Considering all 4 petitions against the controversial ordinance issued by the government, the High Court ordered Advocate General Subrahmanyam Sriram to come up with the government’s version by 17th April.

Now, YSRCP supporters on social media alleging that three out of four petitioners (except Varla Ramaiah) belong to same social community. On other hand, few netizens on social media are calling Ramesh Kumar as ‘Saviour of Lives’ and running a campaign as ‘Thank You Ramesh Kumar Sir’ for saving Andhra Pradesh from COVID-19.
