Sania Mirza, The Worlds No. 1 Tennis Player

Not even a week ago, pride of Hyderabad, Saina Nehwal thrilled millions of Indians by becoming the first Indian female to become the worlds number one badminton player. And now, its Sania Mirza's turn to top the world. The Hyderabadi Tennis sensation became the first ever Indian to top the world tennis map in the doubles event.

Sania paired up with erstwhile Tennis legend, Martina Hingis, and won the WTA Family Circle Cup in America on Sunday. The duo beat Casey Dellacqua (Australia) and Darija Jurak (Croatia) in the finals.  Sania earned 470 points from her historic win. The official ranking will be published on Monday. Sania is also the first Indian female Tennis star to win Grandslams.

Before Sania, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupati are the only Indians who were ranked world number one in the mens doubles event, during their prime. All through her career, Sania won numerous Grandslams and several ATP Tour Titles and was even awarded the Arjuna Award. The whole country is proud of your achievements, Sania!
