Karuna's Cremation: Govt Refuses to Give Land at Marina Beach

In a shocking move to Karunanidhi family, Tamil Nadu government refused to allot space for Karunanidhi's cremation at Marina beach, next to Anna's memorial. Instead, Palani Swamy allotted a 2000 acre land at Gandhi Mandapam.

DMK is not happy about the Government's decision and supporters already started protest at Karuna's residence at Gopalapuram. DMK started the fight for place at Marina beach against Government in the court of law, filed petition in High court.

According to Govt's version, there are already cases running against Marina beach memorial monuments. Justice G Ramesh will be looking into this case of Karuna's cremation land dispute at around 10 30pm today.

CM Palaniswamy expressed his condolences on Karunanidhi's demise and also pleaded DMK supporters and Stalin to avoid unwanted protests. Earlier, DMK leader Durai Murugan said to have spoken to Palaniswamy about the land allocation for Karuna's cremation. Tamil Nadu government announced a public holiday on Wednesday, on Karunanidhi's demise and announced to observe a week mourning days.
