Although there have been doubts over the date and time of Vajpayee's death and several rumours are doing the rounds in public diaspora, no leader has publicly spoken about it. However, in a major embarrassment, nonetheless senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, who is also the editor of Shiv Sena party's magazine Samna, has raised questions whether Atal Bihari Vajpayee died on August 16th as declared by AIIMS or not.
In the latest editorial, Sanjay questioned whether Atal Ji breathed his last only on Aug 16th or before that. He raised suspicion citing that Vajpayee's health deteriorated and he was declared critical by doctors on Aug 12th itself. He further raised doubt that whether Modi government announced Vajpayee's death news after August 15th in order to avoid the Mourning Days and Lowering Flag to Half-Staff (Flag Etiquette followed in times of mourning) on Independence Day.
Sanjay Raut went onto question whether Modi government delayed the announcement of Vajpayee's demise in order to have no obstructions for Prime Minister's Aug 15th speech where he addresses nation ahead of 2019 general elections.
In the editorial piece written with headline 'What is Swarajya', Sanjay asked the leaders of the nation to understand this first before the people. Throughout the editorial comment, Sanjay had maintained very strong voice.
With such questions and comments coming from NDA's own alliance party Shiv Sena, naturally this has irked Modi and BJP leaders.
