Oscars Nominations Are Out; Mank Leads The Race

The nominations of the 93rd Academy Awards were announced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband Nick Jonas about a while ago. There were no clear frontrunners this time and many films were in the contention. However, David Fincher’s Mank is leading the race with 10 nominations.

The Trial of Chicago 7, Sound of Metal, Minari, Nomadland, Judas and the Black Messiah and The Father got six nominations each. The Best Film nominees are The Father, Judas and The Black Messiah, Mank, Minari, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal and Trial of Chicago 7. Korean actor Steven Yeun created history by becoming the first Asian American to be nominated in the Best Actor category.

The late actor Chadwick Boseman got a posthumous nomination for the Best Actor Award, for the film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Viola Davis, who was nominated for the Best Actress Award, for the film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, created history by becoming the only Black Actress to receive the most number of Oscars nominations. She received four acting nominations in total. Two of them were for the Best Actress category. The award ceremony will be held on April 25th this year.
