Borrowing a leaf out of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s playbook on reorganisation of districts, YSR Congress President Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy today assured that if the party wins, they will make every parliamentary constituency a district. Speaking at Srikakulam on completing his Padayatra over 341 days, Jagan said that he will work towards strengthening district collectorates.
According to him, district reorganisation will help in decentralising development and easing governance. "We aim to ensure that every district collector will be in-charge for not more than 7 assembly constituencies. When the number of constituencies are limited, District Collectors can perform their best," he added.
Jagan added that the total number of districts will be increased to 25 from the current 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh. "This will ensure that government services reach the last mile and to every household in the state," he added. Looks like Jagan is taking a lesson or two from our neighbouring state CM.
