In what could be a major development in Telugu politics, Telangana Rashtra Samithi Working President KT Rama Rao will today meet YSR Congress Chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy at his residence in Lotus Pond in Hyderabad. Confirming his meeting with Jagan, KTR tweeted: ''On the directive of our leader KCR Garu, will be calling on YSRCP president @ysjagan Garu today at 12:30PM to discuss modalities on working together to strengthen a federal alternative to NDA and UPA.''
This meeting assumes significance as there has been speculation that YSR Congress is keen on joining KCR's Federal Front which is an alternative to the non-BJP, non-Congress Front at the Centre. TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao has made a statement regarding this, stating that: ''If YSRCP is not aligning with Congress or the BJP, then YSRCP is our friend.''
Earlier, in an interview to a national media channel, YSRCP Chief stated that he may partner with the TRS if the party will fight for Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. Looks like this meeting will also be a significant one as TRS could support YSR Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections which could be KCR's return gift to his political rival N. Chandrababu Naidu. All said and done, this meeting is surely going to change politics in both Telugu states.
