Vaccination For Citizens Above 45 Years From April 1

The coronavirus is hitting back with a great force as many states are witnessing the second wave of surge in Covid19 cases. Amid the spike, the Union Cabinet came up with new updates on Tuesday announcing that the vaccination will be made available from April 1 to every person who is above 45 years.

Presently, the government is allowing only senior citizens (45-60 yrs) with specific comorbidities for the vaccination. However, from April 1, people above 45 years can take the vaccination either by registering online or on the spot.

It is reported that a record of 4.85 crore vaccine doses were administered in India until Monday. 32,53,095 people were vaccinated in last 24 hours. Also, the surge in daily cases in six states — Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu — made the government take the new decision on vaccination.

Currently, Maharastra is witnessing a high number of cases with 24,645 cases in the last 24 hours. This means the state reports the highest daily share of new cases (60.53%) in the country, followed by Punjab with 2,299. In Telangana, we have 412 new cases in the last 24 hours and 3 deaths.
