While Baahubali has been a blockbuster and won applause across the globe, looks like AP politicians are now going to use the film's characters as a reference point to trade barbs at each other. In a surprising criticism against the YSR Congress Party and its leaders, TDP MLC Buddha Venkanna recently equated Devineni Avinash to Baahubali.
At an official swearing-in ceremony of Devineni Avinash as the Telugu Yuvatha State President, Buddha Venkanna said that the YSR Congress leader who is like ''Bhallala'' (the antagonist played by Rana in the move), will witness the rise of Baahubali very soon. Avinash will soon fight a magnanimous figure like Bhallala…and people will eventually call Avinash the Baahubali,'' he said, surprising everyone in the audience.
Sources say that the TDP MLC directed the comments at Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani who is known for making controversial remarks against TDP leaders and is very vocal in his criticism of the Yellow Party. Nani also enjoys popularity in his constituency, more like Goliat in the ''David versus Goliath'' battle where David emerges the winner.
As the Assembly elections draw closer, the entertainment within politics is surely getting interesting. We should be looking out for more such movie references in the near future, given that the state is known for its movies-loving population!
