Chandragiri re-polling: Atmosphere turns violent

With the Election Commission calling for a re-polling in Chandragiri, the atmosphere in the constituency changed overnight. As part of pre-caution, the police have deployed additional forces. On Thursday night, a high drama took place. Current MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy tried to campaign in the few villages but the villagers did not allow him.

Chevireddy's son Mohith Reddy reached Ramchandrapuram mandal, Madigaalli village and the locals have alleged that he tried to distribute money to the voters.

Meanwhile Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu will be flying to New Delhi to meet Chief Election Commissioner. He would be seeking a report on why re-polling is called for in Chandragiri this late.

On the other hand, officials are making arrangements for the re-polling on May 19th.
