Accepting the humiliating defeat in Lok Sabha polls, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has spoke to media journalists gave his best wishes to Narendra Modi and BJP. Soon after that, national media has reported that Gandhi offered to step down as party president for the party's poor performance in the country. On top of it, Rahul himself has lost to BJP's minister Smriti Irani in Amethi, a stronghold for Gandhi's family since several years.
Reports have indicated that Rahul may submit his resignation by taking responsibility of party's terrible performance for second time in a row. However, the reports indicated, the final call will be taken at Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting which is going to happen in a week.
But, the Congress party has official released a statement and dismissed the reports that Rahul would step down. The statement said: "Reports of resignation of Shri Rahul Gandhi as Congress President are mischevious and incorrect."
