Delhi HC orders probe on Polavaram

Social activist Pentapati Pulla Rao has approached the Delhi High Court over the Polavaram project. He alleged that the project's budget has been hiked from Rs 16,000 crore to Rs 58,000 crore which will put burden on the people and he requested the court to order for a probe and find out what were the reasons that led to hike the project's cost.

Accepting the petition, the Delhi High Court had a deep look in the issue and sent directives to the Union Jal Shakti ministry. The court said, the petitioner's petition should be taken as a complaint and initiate a probe as early as possible.

Pentapati in his petition claimed that the government is assigning tender works based on notification method which is completely unethical. After the Delhi High Court's directives, Pentapati said he is happy that the court has considered his petition and asked Union Jal Shakti ministry to take appropriate action.

"Officials who indulged in irregularities during the TDP government, are also continuing in YSRCP. I wonder why the state government did not approach the court when they allege corruption," further added Pentapati Pulla Rao.

Right from the beginning, Polavaram is tangled in controversies. Don't know when this project will get rid of all these and go towards its completion!
