Sankranthi Tales: Fastag Users Getting Frustrated

One of the main promotions to make car users buy "Fastag" in December month is that, if people buy these tags to pay the highway-road toll directly through the bank, then their waiting time at toll gates during Sankranthi season will get reduced. But what is the reality?

Expecting that they could zap through the heavy toll-gate rush easily, almost all the Hyderabad software folks have bought Fastags through various channels like Airtel app and Paytm. That resulted in a tremendous increase in the number of cars that have Fastag pasted to their windshields, leading to heavy queues at toll gates.

And with some toll gates allowing both heavy vehicles, buses and cars in the same lane, the time that one should wait at toll-gate during cash days hasn't got reduced much. Though the process of noting car number and issuing challan has come down, the queues are pretty much the same. In fact, this is actually frustrating many Fastag users.

But those who are traveling late in the nights and during early mornings are finding that fastags are pretty useful as they are not even stopping for a minute at toll gates.
