US President Donald Trump Impeached

In a historic step, US President Donald Trump was impeached on Wednesday (Dec 18, 2019) as the US House of Representatives largely voted in favour of the impeachment. President Trump allegedly abused his power and office. It is alleged that he obstructed the Congress. Donald Trump is charged with "high crimes" and "misdemeanors".

The House voted 230-197 to charge Trump with abuse of power and 229-198 to charge him with obstruction of Congress.Trump is the third US President to be impeached in the 243-year American history. President Andrew Johnson in 1868 and President Bill Clinton in 1998 were impeached before Donald Trump.

Unlike Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, who were impeached during their second terms, Donald Trump will face reelection less than a year after his impeachment, giving voters the opportunity to have the final word in November 2020.
