RRR In The Ring Of Real Politics?

Kanumuri Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, popularly known as RRR, is known for opposing the ruling YCP in Andhra Pradesh. While several TDP leaders shy away from criticizing Jagan out of fear of cases being lodged against them by the government, RRR has never hesitated to put CM Jagan in a tight corner. He fought tooth and nail against the anti-people and vengeance politics of the YCP and was even termed the ‘real opposition in Andhra Pradesh’.

Now, when all the political parties have started off declaring their candidates for the upcoming general elections and with many of the MP seats being announced, there is a lot of suspense over RRR’s Narasapuram constituency. The TDP-BJP-JSP alliance has not decided which party would be allocated the constituency which led to anxiety among his followers on social media.

RRR had opposed the YCP on various issues like the introduction of English as the medium of language for teaching in primary schools, stalling works in construction of Amaravati, abusing the judges, shifting of the capital to Vizag, state government running liquor business, movie ticket pricing, involvement of CM Jagan and his family members in Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, etc. He informed the public about all behind the scenes activities of the YCP government through his Racchabanda programme from past 4 years.

Social media users recalled that RRR also filed many cases against Jagan’s anti-people policies both in the courts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He also tried to expedite the CBI investigation into Jagan’s disproportionate assets case and Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.

He also played a major role in supporting the anti-Jagan forces when they reached the national capital like guiding them through the procedures in the Parliament. He maintained close relations with all the BJP bigwigs at the Centre.

It is a known fact that RRR was found moving closely with TDP boss N. Chandrababu Naidu and other party leaders when they are in Delhi. There is talk he also played a key role in helping the TDP-JSP forge an alliance with the BJP for the upcoming elections.

For the last four years when RRR had been an MP but not allowed to enter into his own constituency due to obvious reasons, he held the flag of Opposition against the YCP high and remained a warrior scuttling the YCP from progressing with its ‘anti-people policies’.

Despite being very active in politics and playing a key role in educating the electorate about the ulterior motives of the powers that be, there observed extreme delay in announcing his candidature from any of the opposition parties like TDP, Janasena or BJP.

Earlier, there were many surveys conducted which predicted RRR victory with a huge margin. Then why is there a delay in announcing his name for Narasapuram MP seat?

There are rumours doing rounds that Jagan is trying hard to prevent RRR from getting the Narasapuram MP ticket. In such a case, how can Jagan stop RRR from getting the ticket?

Jagan could be in touch with the BJP bigwigs and speaking with them in preventing RRR from getting the ticket, by asking them to pressurize the TDP/JSP in not issuing ticket to RRR. Will Chandrababu listen to the BJP on this issue?

One other apprehension of one section of the AP BJP leaders is that RRR’s entry into the party would completely block them from accessing the party bigwigs in Delhi as he has very close relations with them. They fear that RRR alone would remain in the forefront to raise the issues and follow them up in New Delhi, as the BJP has not many MPs from the state.

With apprehensions and strong opposing forces against him, will RRR be able to wriggle out and secure a ticket?
