The aviation regulator DGCA stated on Friday that the coronavirus-induced suspension of scheduled international passenger flights has been extended till August 31.
However, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said that the international scheduled flights are allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case-to-case basis.
Due to the pandemic, the scheduled international passenger services have been suspended in India since March 23, 2020. But special international flights have been operating under the Vande Bharat Mission since May 2020.
Alo, they have been operating under bilateral air bubble arrangements with selected countries since July 2020. To the unversed, India has formed air bubble agreements with 24 countries including the US, the UK, the UAE, Kenya, Bhutan and France.
The DGCA circular further read that the operation of international all-cargo operations will not be affected by the suspension decision, especially flights that have been specially approved for it. Currently, we have domestic flights resumed in May.
