First In US: Vaccine Mandate For Private Employers In New York

For the first time in the US, New York city’s mayor Bill De Blasian announced a vaccine mandate today. According to it, all private-sector employers in New York City are required to implement a Covid-19 vaccine mandate by December 27.

The new vaccine mandate in New York means everyone who works in the city must be vaccinated.

The mayor in his announcement stated, ‘The more universal they are, the more likely employees will say okay, it’s time. I’m going to do this. Because you can’t jump from one industry to another or one company to another. It’s something that needs to be universal to protect all of us.’

He also said the vaccine mandate is the best way to avoid a return to a businesses-shutdown.

Along with this, Children ages 5 – 11 in New York will now also be required to show proof of at least one shot before being allowed to indoor dining, fitness or entertainment. Likewise, adults need to show proof of two vaccinations.
