Sri Lankan authorities issued shoot-at-sight orders on Tuesday after the protests reached to unwanted levels of violence. The building and vehicles were set on fire with deadly violence.
The defence ministry ordered the shoot-at-sight anyone looting public property or causing harm to life. The Government supporters attacked the demonstrators in Colombo with clubs. The protestors were peacefully observing the protest over the economic crisis.
The Mobs later retaliated across the country late in the night putting dozens of homes of ruling-party politicians on fire and even tried to storm the prime minister’s official residence in the capital.
The protests continued on Tuesday despite the curfew and the police shot into the air at two locations to disperse mobs trying to burn the vehicles.
Eight people had died on Tuesday and more than 230 people were injured on Monday. The angry crods set alight the houses of at least 42 Pro-Rajapaksa politicians.
