Percentage issue is rocking the theaters. Exhibitors are pressing for a resolution before the release of Peddi. There are allegations that this is intentionally done to stop Peddi since it is being distributed by Mythri.
Telangana Exhibitors, in a Pressmeet, announced that they would exempt Peddi from the Percentage System but are insisting that all policies of the Percentage System should be finalized before the release of the film.
The Exhibitors already announced that there would be no hiked rates in Telangana even if the Government allows.
The issue has turned out to be a grey area for the audience as they could not understand what the Exhibitors are asking and why the Producers are resisting. Both the sides appear to be having reasonable arguments when they come before the Press.
So, Gulte.com’s Journalist Nishant sat with Sudharshan 35MM and Devi 70MM Owner, Balgovind Raj who also happens to be one of the member of the Committee of Producers, Distributors, and Exhibitors appointed to look into the issue.
This interview is easily the most comprehensive explanation ever on this topic.
The discussion started with Peddi, the issues being faced by the Single Screen Theaters, how the Producers/distributors are being unreasonable, if Lease Owners are evil, Rentrack, Fan Culture, Fake Collections, how Premieres are a huge loss to Single Screen owners, how BookMyShow is killing business, etc.
He also asked if Mahesh Babu called him about the ongoing issue and whether Chiranjeevi interfered in this issue at any time.
