‘Telugu Annas Put Tamil Industry In Trouble’

A Tamil Producer had called Gulte’s Correspondent after a very long time. In their regular chat, he went on to say how Telugu Producers completely destroyed the Tamil industry.

He mentioned about how Dil Raju and Mythri gave three digit remuneration for Vijay and Ajith for Varisu and Good Bad Ugly and from then, the big heroes completely changed their remunerations.

“This is one of the reasons why Ajith do not have films right now. He will not reduce and nobody can afford such huge numbers,” he said.

The problem is reportedly not just with the stars.

“We pay 30K per day for Nasser and 50K per day for Sathyaraj. They are among the highest paid supporting actors here. But they go to the Telugu film industry and get 2 Lakhs Per Day. I do not know how Tollywood is affording this,” he said.

He also revealed something very interesting about Music Directors.

“For the film ‘Youth’, GV Prakash was offered 30 Lakhs. He turned it out and asked for the Music Rights of the film. He is happy and the producer is happy. But the same GV Prakash gets 3-3.5 Crores in Telugu,” he revealed.

GV Prakash was reportedly paid 3.5 Crore for Venkatesh and Anil Ravipudi’s film.

“AR Rahman is not paid half of what he was paid for Peddi. Except for Anirudh, no technician is paid similar to what they get in Telugu. And they are not interested in doing Tamil films for obvious reasons,” he told.

“There are no more producers in Tamil. We have couple of corporates who can only afford Vijays and Ajiths. Remaining heroes will do films for their Home banners. Other than that there are no producers. It is not fair to blame only the Telugu Annas. Along with many problems, Telugu Annas complicated things for us. The system has killed everyone,” he said.

In Telugu Film Industry’s Point of View, one can not stop wondering where this disease of paying very high has started.

That culture has resulted in a new class called ‘Cost Failures’. There are many big films which did well but are not enough to cover the costs.

The correction should come. But how? From Where?
