The highly anticipated mythological project reuniting pan-India actor NTR and ace Telugu director Trivikram Srinivas, which has been the subject of intense speculation for nearly a year, was finally made official earlier today in a grand manner.
While the massive announcement sent waves of excitement among fans and industry circles, the high anticipation got dampened to some extent as the poster unveiled by the makers didn’t match the scale and hype. Even though it is just an announcement poster, the team could have come up with a better plan to augment the buzz to the next level.
Much to the dismay of fans and cinephiles alike, the announcement poster appeared to have been reliant on AI enhanced imagery, sparking a wave of online criticism regarding its quality and lack of creative depth. The overall design and the background setting in the poster didn’t excite the viewers much apart for the hype on the combination.
For a project that is going to be mounted on an astonishing budget with larger-than-life canvas, the stakes are undeniably high. A film of this scale and ambition deserves a grand, meticulously crafted introduction to the world, rather than an announcement poster that feels rushed or artificial.
Instead of relying on high end technology, the team could have taken their own time to give a more genuine and immersive experience to the viewers by shooting the first look in real time location. As soon as the poster came out, many extravagant fan-made edits with better output started making rounds on social media platforms.
Unfortunately, this is the second time in two months that NTR’s film has sparked a similar discussion. His other highly anticipated big-ticket venture, Dragon, faced remarkably similar backlash just last month when the first teaser was unveiled. The introduction frames in the teaser gave an unnatural feel and turned out to be the only liability what otherwise could have been a solid cut.
No doubt that extensive use of AI in films will enhance the viewer experience as it is just like any other technological advancements in the creative field. However, filmmakers shouldn’t rely too much and make things appear artificial even before starting the shoot.
As both of these massive pan-India projects move further into production, one can only hope that the makers take this constructive criticism as a positive feedback and ensure future promotional materials reflect the true grandeur and hard work of the teams behind them.
