Temple town Tirupati is going to be a cinema hub. Tirupati is all set to get a new single-screen theatre with a massive 108-feet screen. Interestingly, this is not a mall-based multiplex but a single screen theatre. What’s more? It is going to be Asia’s largest screen theatre.
Interestingly, this venture has no celebrity involvement or celebrity stake either. It is being started by a group of new individuals who are entering the exhibition business. This is a welcome development.
If all goes well, this massive 108-feet screen theatre is expected to open soon, and there is a possibility that it may begin its journey with Mahesh Babu’s Varanasi, which is one of the most awaited upcoming films.
The new theatre is expected to be a notable addition to Tirupati’s cinema exhibition scene and likely add value to Tollywood’s exhibition business.
It can be noted that Nellore’s Sullurpet has a massive screen theatre V Celluloids V EPIQ belonging to the producers of UV Creations. Its screen has 100 feet width and 54 feet height. At the time of launch in 2019, V EPIQ was India’s largest screen theatre and world’s third largest. It is a multiplex. Whereas this Tirupati massive screen theatre is a standalone.
At a time when the survival of single screens is becoming a question day by day, initiatives like this can boost the single screen ecosystem in one way or another. All eyes will be on the ticket price cap, and it is understandable that the concerned authorities may work towards smooth discussions and a favourable outcome.
